One of the easiest things to do when trying to get on the ‘healthy’ food train, is to incorporate smoothies. Smoothies are an amazing way to maximise your vitamin and nutrient intake. I’ve loved smoothies for years – fruit smoothies, green smoothies, detox smoothies, alcoholic smoothies (yes they exist) and the list goes on.
When my sister and I started the mainly smoothie-based Harley Pasternak’s 15 day Body Reset Diet, she wasn’t sold on the smoothies as she never truly felt satisfied by a smoothie. Pasternak has three main types of smoothies – ‘White’, ‘Red’ and ‘Green’ and the first five days of the Reset Diet involves one of each. My sister and I fell in love with the White Smoothie and we both still include it almost daily as a ‘meal replacement’ or an after-workout snack. I’ve altered the recipe slightly, and I wanted to share. I’m an easy-sell when it comes to smoothies, but the fact that my sister still loves this sweet, nutritious and filling smoothie is pretty much a miracle!
I’ve adapted the Pasternak’s original White Smoothie slightly to the below. Blend all ingredients in a high quality blender (I use a Vitamix and a Blendtek) – can’t live without them! I have both, as I keep one at my boyfriend’s house – I seriously can’t live without smoothies in my life!
- 1 apple
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 3/4 cup 0% plain greek yogurt
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 scoop collegen powder
Add the wet ingredients and then dry (fruit) and sprinkle with cinnamon and collagen powder and VOILA! Perfection in a smoothie.
