Happy 2015 to all! It’s been a slow start for me at Nail That Accent headquarters as we’ve been busy planning all the new and exciting things for 2015.
I’ve wanted to create owl nails for quite some time and never got around to it so I thought some fresh, cute little owl nails would be perfect for my first nail art of 2015.
I used this cute owl lip balm I bought at Forever21 a few months ago as my inspiration.
Yes I realise this might be intended for 12 year olds but I don’t care! I love fun and girly lip balms (I guess it’s the 12 year old in me). I have to say that for an inexpensive lip balm (retails for less than $5.00), this one is actually pretty good. It smells like sweet strawberry and keeps my lips moisturized for a few hours and doesn’t dry them out, like other inexpensive lip balms tend to.
The way I see it, it’s a win win situation – owl nails inspiration and a nice new lip balm!
This design was really easy to create. I first polished my index, pinky and thumb with OPI Kiss Me I’m Brazilian and my ring and middle fingerswith essie find me and oasis. I used essie blanc for the tiny polka dots. The owl was created using various nail polishes: OPI Kiss Me I’m Brazilian for the bird, ate berries in the canaries for the wings, a-piers to be tan for the tummy markings, essie roarrrrange for the feet, blanc and licorice for the eyes.
Here’s a super quick tutorial of my owl nails that I posted on Instagram:
