Burt ‘The Bee Man’ Shaviz, Burt’s Bees namesake and co-founder, passed away in early July. From his roadside honey stand in 1984 to the iconic beeswax lip balm we all know today, Burt’s Bees has stayed true to Burt’s very simple idea:
Burt’s Bees’ philosophy believes in the greater good with simple, natural and responsible products and packaging.
While Burt’s Bees has truly evolved as a company over the years and has some lovely innovative products, fundamental to the company’s roots are 5 classics and we all know – you can never go wrong with the classics.
Classic Lip Balm
100% natural and probably the most popular Burt’s Bees product, this lip balm is infused with honey and packed with beeswax, shea butter, almond oil, cocoa butter and lanolin to give your lips that soft and healthy feeling. This product also contains peppermint oil to give that refreshing tingle. Cost: CAD $4.89/US $3.29
Beeswax Lip Balm Tin
If you enjoy your lip balms in a tin, then you have the option with the classic lip balm. I love the look and feel of a tin – for some reason it feels more traditional and sentimental when I use this product. When my nails are long however, the tube is a better option for me as I hate getting product under my nails (ick). Cost: CAD $4.89/US $3.29
Do you suffer from rough, dry hands? If the answer is yes than this classic, packed with botanical oils, herbs and beeswax, is just what you need. This is NOT a hand lotion, it’s an intensive treatment for hard-working, rough dry hands, a carpenter’s or gardener’s favourite! Although it’s a hand salve, I get really dry elbows and find this works amazingly well! Cost: CAD $12.99/USD $9.00
Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
This iconic cuticle cream has been on my ‘must have’ list for years. If you want to keep your nails healthy, promoting growth and moisture than Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter cuticle cream is what you need. Lemon oil is known for its astringent and anti-irrtant qualities so this is another plus for soothing dry, irritated skin around your nails. Cost: CAD $7.99/$6.00 USD
Coconut Foot Cream
Coconut is one of my favourite ingredients when it comes to beauty products so it’s no surprise that I’m IN LOVE with this foot cream that combines coconut oil, lanolin and vegetable glycerin to revive and rejuvenate dry feet. This foot cream also contains a hint of rosemary and peppermint oils to refresh tired feet. Cost: $14.99 CAD/$9.00 USD
