I’ve been seeing Leather effect nail textured nail polishes around for a while, but have only just tried it. The polish I purchased was Nails Inc of London “Noho” leather effect polish. I purchased this at my local drugstore, but you can pick it up at most major beauty supply stores, or online. It’s a little on the pricier side (about $11 in Canada/US) but I lucked out on a big sale.
Something about this particular polish reminds me of a leather jacket. I don’t know if it’s because Nails Inc London has made the cap look like leather itself (maybe that’s why the price is so steep), or because I’m watching Sons of Anarchy right now and constantly thinking about biker jackets. Anyway, point is I wanted to see if I could create a leather jacket on my nails. The solution was to create some zipper nail art. Since it was so easy to do, I created a zipper nail art tutorial in the mean time. The design was super easy to achieve and will certainly be a fun go-to nail design when I need to do a full manicure quickly but want to add some fun.
The polish itself is extremely easy to apply and dries to a textured, leather look and feel. No top coat is necessary for this polish, as you want to make sure that the textured part really shows.
I created a YouTube nail art tutorial for the zipper but I assure you, it’s super easy to do.
What I used:
- base coat
- leather effect polish
- neutral base (I used Essie “mademoiselle”)
- a fine nail art brush
- silver polish or acrylic paint for the zipper
