If you’re looking for seriously intense pigment, a soft buttery formula and an all-in-one matte lipstick, look no further because this Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick is seriously to die for. I’ve been a lover of Urban Decay Eyeshadow palettes for years (click here to see the newest Urban Decay Smoky Palette Review), but I’ve actually never tried Urban Decay lippies, so needless to say, as a serious lipstick junkie, I was super stoked to try these bad boys out.
From fall neutrals, to fuchsia, to a deep flattering dark shade, this collection has every lipstick lover covered for fall.
These lipsticks are extremely soft and buttery which means they glide on seamlessly providing intense colour with one swipe. That said, they’re very soft which means that if you leave them out in the sun for any length of time, they will melt (you can see how the purple lipstick above is a little lopsided). You also don’t want to press too hard when applying as you will ruin the shape of the lipstick.
The formula really provides long-lasting colour and is recommended to be used with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil before applying (which I don’t have). I think the lip pencil will help definite the lipstick line even more, and would definitely help the longevity of wear. All swatches below are shown with no lip liner.
The lipsticks feature Urban Decay’s proprietary Pigment Infusion System, which gives the formula its super-creamy texture, intense pigmentation and superior colour dispersion. Each lipstick is loaded with a list of nourishing ingredients including: avocado, olive and babassu oils, shea and illipe butter, and vitamin C and E.
The Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick Collection comes in a gorgeous, custom-designed lipstick component in a pearlescent black, to help set these shades apart from other Urban Decay lipsticks.
Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick Swatches
Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick in Blackmail is a really unique and flattering dark shade for fall. I would highly recommend using a lipliner with this beauty to achieve perfect lines. This would be a non-date wearing lipstick as it’s super dark (and will get everywhere if you’re planning on some hanky panky).
Here’s Matte After Dark, a beautiful medium-dark berry pink that is one of my favourites in the collection. Definitely a day to night colour, I think this lipstick would be flattering on most skin tones. You can see that this is the hue that must have been in the sun a little too long as it started to warp slightly.
We know that the must-have lipstick in any beauty addict’s collection is a perfect nude. If you haven’t picked one up yet, maybe this STARK NAKED is for you.
Another favourite of mine is this gorgeous fuchsia pink MATTE MENACE – I mean hello??? Check out this colour payoff with one swipe! Seriously intense.
MATTE TILT is an intense bright orange. I don’t normally like orange with my skintone, but for some reason this colour really works and I’ll definitely be wearing this into the fall.
Ahhh MATTE 1993 – what a terrific name. Doesn’t this remind you of the marsala-esque tones from the 1990s? We all know it’s the Pantone colour of the year so wear this beauty proudly.
Overall I am so in love with the Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick Collection. I will definitely need to invest in some lip pencils to make sure these beauties look absolutely seamless.
What do I think of my first Urban Decay lipstick experience? FANTASTIC! Two thumbs up (insert thumbs up emoticon here).
The Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick Collection is available at Sephora and select drug store locations for $26 CAD/ $22 USD.
Until next time,
