In case you haven’t heard, healthy skin is in. I just returned home from a couple of days in Florida for work related fun and I couldn’t believe that some of the girls were lying on their loungers with no protection! “Aren’t you putting on sunscreen?”, I asked. The response ranged from “I don’t burn”, to “oh yeah, my oil is right over there!”. Don’t these girls know it’s 2016? Forget about the burn for 3 seconds and let’s talk about the damage that UV rays can do on their own! Who wants avoidable wrinkles?
I’m always on the lookout for an improved sunscreen regime. I like a sunscreen that protects my skin from UV rays and a burn, but it also has to be easy to apply, doesn’t make my skin break out and lastly, it has to be waterproof! I was excited to have the opportunity to try a few new products from Shiseido’s new spring and summer collections.
What better opportunity to really test a sunscreen product than chilling out on the beach?
Packed in my beach bag I brought 3 things:
1. Shiseido WetForce For Sensitive Skin Sun Protection Lotion for face/body
2. UV Protective Compact SFF36 Broad Spectrum
3. UV Protective Stick Foundation SPF 37 Broad Spectrum
Then, for apres sun, I brought along Shiseido After sun.
Last summer Shiseido launched a new technology: WetForce – a safer, stronger UV protectant that is completely resistant to water and sweat. Because the product was so successful, this season, Shiseido launched WetForce for sensitive skin, for more delicate skin types. After applying this sunscreen, it did not move! I went in and out of the ocean a number of times and had no problems. So much so that even after I showered, I still had some residue on my skin. This is definitely water proof!!!! I think this would be an amazing product for children! ***Tip for applying sunscreen: In order to avoid blotchiness, I recommend always putting on sunscreen when you’re completely naked (inside of course), before you put on your bathing suit.
Shiseido UV Protective Compact Foundation
Even though I always apply sunscreen to my face, I am always drawn to special beauty products that contain SPF (anything for more protection), and I’m so thrilled to have found this! This compact has an SFP of 36 and is water resistant for up to 40mins. The formula has a matte finish.
If you like more of a dewy, creamy finish than a matte finish (like the compact gives), than this the foundation stick is for you. With an SPF of 37, application is quick and easy. I actually use the compact first and then apply the stick as a concealer. After I’ve had my fun in the sun, it’s time to shower and apply some after sun to ensure my skin stays nice and moisturized.
Shiseido After Sun Intensive Recovery Emulsion
This lotion is not too thin and not too thick (which are both pet peeves of mine) – consistency for an after sun lotion is everything. I applied it on both my face and body and had no problems with breakouts (which I’m exceptionally prone to – yes still at 36!). I liked the smell too which was soft and subtle and not over powering.
I’m so happy to have really put these products to the test – they’re absolutely wonderful. My only complaint is that I wish the Shiseido WetForce Sun Protectant came in a bigger bottle! I finished half the bottle in just 2 days (maybe I was applying too much).
