Probably one of my favorite books of all time is “The Color Purple” by Alice Walker (1982). The Color Purple won the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the National Book Award for Fiction and was later adapted into a film and musical.
Taking place in mostly in rural Georgia, the story focuses on the life of African-American women in the 1930s addressing numerous issues including their exceedingly low position in American social culture.
Today’s theme for the OMD3 Nail Art Challenge is: BOOK, so I chose to do some purple ombre nails as an ode to “The Color Purple”.
I started with a white base and then sponged on three purple polishes (Sephora by OPI: Casting Call, Irish I was Thinner and OPI Lost my Bikini in Molokini). I used a really cool new transforming effect topcoat from Revlon: 765 Holographic Pears and I LOVE IT.
Definitely similar to China Glaze Fairy Dust, but even more intense sparkle, I think I have a new favourite.
Until next time,
