I can’t believe we’re into October already – say what? Don’t be surprised if more and more Halloween nails start popping up here very soon…I’m behind a lot of others if you can believe it. October N.A.I.L has some wonderful fall themes coming up – the first being: Splatter Nails!
There are so many different ways to interpret splatter nails and ways to achieve them (the most common method is using a small straw and blowing the nail polish onto your nails. Take a huge inhale and do a short o.5 sec blow as hard as you can). Yes cleanup is essential as it is a little messy – but the results are abstract and awesome. Today I wanted to try something a little different – using a toothbrush flick technique with acrylic paint to achieve the splatter nails effect. Using acrylic paint can make the clean up a little easier because you just wash it off when you’ve achieved the look you want.
I combined a watercolor/animal print design with my splatter nails to achieve the final look.
What I used:
OPI: I Just Can’t Cope-acabana
Joe Fresh: Cobalt
Joe Fresh: Lime Juice
black acrylic paint
striping brush
flat nail art brush
acetone in a litte dish
toothbrush
Quick Tutorial
Here is a super quick tutorial on how this nailart was created.
I love how these splatter nails turned out – a little abstract, but something different.
Until next time,
