In February 2015, essie announced that Rebecca Minkoff, industry fashion leader in accessible luxury handbags, accessories, footwear and apparel, would be the new Global Color Designer for essie.
What does a global color designer do?
According to essie,
with her fashion expertise, modern eye for color and talent for setting trends, Rebecca Minkoff will help create and bring to life essie’s fabulous new shades (her first was the spring collection).
With her playful, edgy yet classic designs, Rebecca Minkoff is definitely amongst my favourite designers. Check out my favourite of her new spring handbags – gorgeous!
As I have a real love for the essie brand, I wanted to celebrate Rebecca Minkoff joining the essie team by creating some nailart inspired by one of her pieces.
I chose the enabel jean jacket (seen above). Not only because I absolutely love this modern take on the regular jean jacket, but also because clearly it’s one of Rebecca’s favourites too, as she’s wearing it in many of her photos.
To create the look I used three essie polishes: blanc, boxer shorts and suite retreat. Using a striping brush and wiping the majority of polish off my brush, I wiped on the two blue shades over the white. Then using acetone, I lightly wiped my striping brush over the design. Finally I used a small nailart brush to create the chevron pattern that you can see on the jean jacket. Finally I used nail glue to adhere some gold studs.
I really loved how this look turned out.
What do you think?
Until next time,
