Thinking about what to do for today’s prompt: Rainbow Nails, I wanted to do something different. I didn’t quite no what it was and for once (very rare occassion), I actually polished my nails without a plan!
I decided on a brand: OPI – and I took out colors that I thought would make a nice rainbow.
OPI:
I Just Can’t Cope-acabana
Ate Berries in the Canaries
Keeping Suzi at Bay
I’m so Outta Lime
Race Red
I started with a white base and then once dry, I started polishing one color at a time red/orange, yellow, green, blue, purple/pink. Once finished, I decided to use some acrylic paint in black to tie the look together with some abstract strokes. I think this design is either going to be an amazing hit…or a huge fail. I can’t quite decided.
One mistake I made, that actually turned out brilliantly is using this Motives Cosmetics base coat. For some reason I thought it was a matte top coat. I put it on as a top coat and loved the impact. It wasn’t until I started my photography that I realized it was a base coat! The effect of using this as a top coat was beautiful however. Not matte, not glossy either – somewhere in between. After I realised my mistake I topped the rainbow nails with a true matte topcoat, and from the pictures below, you can see that they are more certainly more matte.
Whether you love these rainbow nails, or hate them, I’ve invented a new design and I’m going to trademark it: modern abstract (you heard it here first). I’m going to try this new design with various colors but, it’s easy and impactful.
Until next time,
