Pantone is the global authority on color. Beginning in the 1950s as a printing company, today pantone’s color matching system and ‘color of the year’ not only influences printing and design, but is heavily influential in fashion and beauty. Makeup, nail polish and haircare companies are jumping on the bandwagon trying to make sure they are at the forefront of new products that are influenced by pantone.
Every year Pantone announces it’s color of the year, and today The Beauty Buff’s are celebrating our interpretation of this year’s color of the year: RADIANT ORCHID.
When I worked at Toronto Fashion Week with essie Canada a few months ago, the media were privy to a bottle of essie’s tribute to the pantone color of the year. essie Canada handed out bottles of play date backstage, a stunning radiant orchid creme polish. Today I’ve designed my radiant orchid nails around this gorgeous color.
I chose to do an interesting black and white negative space design accented with Hex Jewelry nail charms. I used essie blanc and licorice for the the negative space outline.
As usual, you know me – I had to pair my radiant orchid nails with some gold rings from Muizee and Forever21 (which is a great place to get inexpensive, trendy jewelry by the way).
I love how these radiant orchid nails turned out. What do you think?
