I colour my hair regularly and use hot styling tools on a regular basis. Needless to say, these things cause havoc on my hair, sometimes making my hair feel dull, limp and at times, dare I say – susceptible to breakage.
I always love testing out new shampoos, conditioners and treatments that promise to help ‘repair’ my hair. I’m a professional hair product junkie (meaning, I only purchase shampoo, conditioner, styling products and treatments when I’m recommended something by my stylist), so when Pantene approached me to try their mass market new innovation in haircare – Pantene Expert, I have to say, I was a little sceptical.
Given the choice between the five Pantene Expert collections: Intense Repair, Age Defy, Intense Smooth, Intense ColorCare and Intense Hydration, I chose based on my primary haircare need – I need something to help repair my damaged hair.Pantene Expert Intense Repair comes in a large sized shampoo (285ml) and conditioner (237ml), both housed in sleek black bottles. While mass market brands are usually much more watered down than professional products, it makes sense that the size is a little larger than what I normally use. Despite being a mass market brand, I do think that Pantene really did a great job with the colour and design of the bottles. They look quite elegant for the price point.
So, what’s the verdict? Firstly, I love the soft gentle fresh fragrance of both the shampoo and conditioner. I did use a little more product than I would normally, but I loved the intense lather the shampoo created. After using the conditioner, I could run my fingers through my hair instantly! After towel drying my hair, I did use some product – Pureology Colour Fanatic leave-in, and a new Pureology styling aid (not yet released), before blow drying my hair, but the end result was clear – my hair felt great. After incorporating Pantene Expert Intense Repair shampoo and conditioner into my weekly haircare routine, there’s no doubt that my hair is looking and feeling really good.
If you’re on a budget, looking for the next best thing (after an in-personal salon recommendation), I would highly recommend one of the new Pantene Expert Collections. Which one should you choose? Make sure you rank your hair care needs in order of priority – colour, damage, frizz, age etc and then start with the system that is designed for your primary haircare needs.
