I’m nowhere near ready for fall, but I’m not going to lie, the fall nail polish collections that I’ve been reviewing have me a little antsy for gorgeous fall hues. OPI Washington D.C. Fall/Winter 2016 Collection is a collaboration with Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actress Kerry Washington, recently named the company’s first-ever Creative Ambassador. Olivia Pope…I mean “Kerry”, worked with OPI co-founder and brand ambassador Suzi Weiss-Fischmann to develop and name the 12 permanent and 3 limited-edition shades.

The Shades

OPI-fallThe OPI Washington D.C. palette includes a variety of creamy, dramatic and sophisticated fall hues. Let’s take a look at the swatches.

Stay Off The Lawn

A beautiful deep, lush green that is actually a one-coater!

Never a Dulles Moment

This is a deeper yellow than OPI Just Can’t Copeacabana and I really like it. OPI describes it as a ‘curry yellow’ but I don’t think it’s as deep as that.

Yank My Doodle

If you’re an orange-lover you’ll love this deep orange that covers in 1-coat!

Squeaker of the House

I’m in love with this perfect chocolate brown.

Madam President

A gorgeous bright red with a fuschia undertone.

We the Female

What an awesome name for this empowering garnet!

Suzi-The First Lady of Nails

I see what OPI was going for with this hue, but I don’t think I can pull off this olive green.

Pale to the Chief

Surprise, surprise, my favourite polish in OPI Washington D.C. is a flawless neutral.

Freedom of Peach

A beautiful peachy tone that applies flawlessly in 2 coats.

Shh…It’s Top Secret!

I love this for fall!  A deep, deep brown, so dark, it is incognito!

OPI by Popular Vote

A beautiful cool apple red that is actually a real original in my collection.

CIA= Color is Awesome

A stunning dusky blue that is another favourite of mine in the collection.

3 limited edition shades

Kerry Blossom

Grab this luscious plum while you can as it’s limited edition folks!

“Liv” in the Gray

Apologies for the blur in the above image, but take my word for it – this is a perfect slate grey.

Inside the ISABELLEway

A caramel creme that I think doesn’t do my skin tone any justice.

Ulta and Ulta.com Exlusives

These two polishes are only available at Ulta.

Front Runner

Front Runner OPI Washington DC SwatchFrontrunner_OPI-Washington

An ultra deep moss green.

Politically Polished

An uber dark plum brown that I’m actually really fond of.

What do you think of the OPI Washington D.C. Collection?

Oh, I haven’t heard about the Ulta Exclusives anywhere. They look pretty. Thanks for the information and all the beautiful swatches – I love your handposes:)

  2. Tess

Thank you so much for swatching the ulta exclusives! Haven’t found swatches anywhere else yet. They all look gorgeous. First time in a very long time I actually think I will buy the entire collection *drool* 🙂

Do you know how Front Runner compares to Here today… Aragon tomorrow, and Politically Polished to I Sao Paolo Over There? Any dupes?

    1. Lindsay

Here today …aarogon tomorrow is more black green (darker) and has a slight shimmer (which front runner doesn’t). Politically polished is darker for sure than Sao Paolo Over There.

I just bought five out of the 15 shades from this collection. I have the same skin tone as Kerry Washington and the five colors I bought look totally different on me than you, as was Kerry’s intention. Her Isabelletway is perfect on me and the yellow shoes up as a curry on me.

Surprisingly the Kerry Bloosom and We the Female are just okay on me. They look like other shades I have. On you they are gorgeous! The Liv Grey I love but it’s on the green side. I thought I’d be able to do Pale to the Chief since I wear other OPI shades that are similar, but it didn’t work on me. Go figure!

Wow that is so interesting! I love that they look different on you and is such an interesting point about nail polish and skin tone. It makes sense since makeup looks different on diff skin tones. I was surprised that OPI said that Never a Dulles moment is a curry yellow – now it make sense! Thanks for sharing. Xo

I have the Ulta shade Politically Polished it’s very close to How Great Is Your Dane?. Whit a slight plum undertone.
