On August 6th, OPI is releasing its Fall/Winter 2014 OPI Nordic Collection. According to a recent press release:
Inspired by the great northern lights in Finland, deep blue fjords in Norway, and colorful houses in Copenhagen, Nordic Collection by OPI brings the diverse colors of its namesake region to nails and toes for fall/winter 2014. This new collection of 12 lacquers features a palette ranging from spicy browns in shades of bronze, cinnamon and caramel to rich purples in wine, black cherry and blue-violet hues, with accents of creamy coral, pink and sea green.
“When creating colors for a new seasonal collection, I always draw inspiration from the food, music, art, landscape and street style of a particular destination,” remarks Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder & Executive VP. “While conceptualizing the shades of the Nordic Collection, I ate cinnamon buns and drank glogg, snapped photographs of brightly painted houses, and gazed in wonder at the region’s topography – from the northern lights and midnight sun to lava flats and deep fjords. All of these diverse elements came together to inspire an equally varied array of colors that capture the aesthetic of the Nordic region.
“Contrasts were also seen on fall runways, where sheer fabrics were paired with fleece and woolen plaids were embellished with colorful beadwork and intricate lace,” adds Weiss-Fischmann. “OPI Nordic Collection complements the oxblood, coral and earthy tones seen this season and offers a variety of hues. With so many color choices, the Nordic Collection makes it easy to experiment with new nail looks and cultivate personal style. I believe strongly in experimenting with beauty and fashion until finding a unique look. We are sure of only one taste – our own.”
OPI Nordic Collection includes the following shades in both nail lacquer and GelColor formulas:
- Going My Way or Norway?
- Ice-Bergers & Fries
- OPI with a Nice Finn-ish
- My Voice is a Little Norse
- Can’t aFjörd Not To
- How Great is Your Dane?
- My Dogsled is a Hybrid
- Suzi Has a Swede Tooth
- Do You Have this Color in Stock-holm?
- Thank Glogg It’s Friday!
- Viking in a Vinter Vonderland
- Skating on Thin Ice-Land
Suzi Has a Swede Tooth
Just when you think you have enough perfect pinks in your collection, along comes another one. Perfect in two coats – no topcoat.
OPI With a Nice Finn-ish
A gold, this polish applies smoothly. Although the photo shows every brush stroke, it is much more forgiving in real life. Shown here with two coats and no top coat.
Viking in a Vinter Vonderland
A dark purple, I would like to compare this to OPI i want to bite your neck, as I think this could be a potential close duplicate. Application is as easy as all the others in this collection with two coats for full coverage.
Do You Have this Color in Stock-holm?
This indigo purple is definitely a first and should be added to your top 5 fall nail polishes right now. It’s such a fantastic color and formula is perfect.
Can’t Afjord Not To
A nice fall orange, I can see this color bringing some happiness to some dark and grey fall/winter days. I’ll definitely be keeping this perfect orange for just that occasion. Shown here with two coats and no topcoat.
Ice-Bergers & Fries
This is a stunning dark cappucino caramel that is just stunning on. Shown here with no topcoat, I think it definitely needs one to smooth it out, but application was still smooth.
Thank Glogg it’s Friday!
A stunning raspberry shimmer, this polish is a beauty. Shown here with two coats and no topcoat.
My Voice is a Little Norse
A glitter topper of square shaped glitter in various sizes. A nice addition to this collection.
My Dogsled is a Hybrid
I have a thing for turquoise and this color definitely hits the spot. It’s perfect. In terms of application, self levelling properties, shine without a topcoat – perfection.
How Great is Your Dane?
A beautiful charcoal great for the fall season goes well with all the muted browns and greys we’re seeing on the runway for fall. I have my eye on a Marc Jacobs leather jacket for fall, and this color would look incredible with it!
Going my Way or Norway?
A fresh caramel, lighter than ice-bergers & fries, this color is a little less shiny than the others without a topcoat, but is still beautiful. Shown here with two coats.
Skating on Thin Ice-land
Another purple? Apparently so. While much warmer than viking in vonderland, I definitely don’t think you need to purchase both (if any, because there isn’t really anything new with these colors). It’s formula is great, as with all the others and it too needs a topcoat to emphasize it’s shine.
What’s the Verdict?
OPI Nordic Collection has really hit the nail on the head. These colors are stunning. A beautiful addition to the existing OPI line, I think some of these colors are an absolute must.

I just love seeing new OPI collections!
I scoped out this collection in Ulta this weekend. I just feel like too many colors are dupey is previous Brazil and San Fran collections. I think I might pick up Do You Have This Color In Stock-holm and possibly the browns.
I think I need the whole collection because of the name…. But my wallet is too worn out at the moment
