Introducing the Ford Mustang by OPI collection! Featuring six new limited edition nail lacquers in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the iconic Ford Mustang vehicles, this sophisticated palette of red, gold, black, pink, white and aqua evokes passion, adventure and excitement.
Nail colour and the cars we choose to drive are synonymous in expressing personality, and these bold eye-catching shades are perfect for summer and anyone who has the need for speed!
According to a recent press release by OPI:
“OPI is thrilled to partner with one of the world’s top automotive companies in celebrating 50 years of Ford Mustang,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder and Executive Vice President. “For women, cars and nail lacquer offer a way to express personality. This new collection will deliver elements of sophistication, luxury, power and style fitting for both OPI and Mustang consumers.”
The collection’s hero shade, Race Red, is a tribute to one of Mustang’s most iconic colors.
“Ford Mustang inspires passion like no other car, and we are excited to be working with OPI on an exclusive collection that captures the spirit of our iconic car,” says Melanie Banker, Mustang marketing manager. “There is no better way to express Mustang’s bold personality and the excitement it creates than through color.”
Celebrating an Icon
The Ford Mustang is about to become the newest member of a very exclusive club – vehicles in continuous production for 50 years. Over the last five decades, Mustang has gained worldwide popularity and has become an enduring part of pop culture with more than 9.2 million Ford Mustangs sold and roughly 3,000 appearances on film and TV – including its upcoming big screen appearance as the hero car in “Need for Speed.”
Mustang’s unique combination of style, performance and affordability established an entirely new class of sporty cars, and its next chapter unfolds with the all-new Ford Mustang. Its most advanced version yet, the 2015 Mustang features an all-new sophisticated design – clearly inspired by its 50-year heritage – and a host of new innovative technologies and connectivity systems.
So what’s all this excitement about? Let’s see how OPI has combined Mustang’s style and performance with these six new shades in the OPI mustang collection.
The Sky’s My Limit
Words do not describe this stunning sparkler. Shown here with two thin coats and no stop coat. Really unique and one of a kind, and I’m not disappointed.
Girls Love Ponies
A beautiful dark fushia pink for this Girls Love Ponies color. Unfortunately it’s not too unique, but that’s ok because I could definitely see myself in a pink mustang this colour! Imagine? Application and formula are flawless with this color.
Queen of the Road
Who wouldn’t want to drive a sexy black mustang? This polish has a satin finish so can look a little streaky if not applied with perfection. That said, the photo picks up the worst of it and it certainly doesn’t look streaky on. Not matte as the Gwen Stefani 4 in the Morning, this color is unique.
Race Red
No words to describe this orange bright red perfection. I’m in love. Flawless color and formula.
I had to add some gold foils to really feel like I was in a mustang convertible 🙂
Angel with a Lead Foot
A beautiful cream white. White on white, on white. This color is close to Alpine Snow without the blue undertone. It’s definitely a great bright white for the summer, or to use as a base for nail art.
50 Year’s of Style
With a name like that I had high hopes. Unfortunately this gold satin disappoints. It’s fairly close to other golds in the OPI family and doesn’t stand out in my opinion. The satin finish means that it does show streaks if not applied perfectly.
The Verdict?

The Sky’s My Limit looks gorgeous! Definitely my favourite of this collection and if I come across it I’ll definitely pick it up 🙂
You will love that cokor
I really like the white and the black… the other colours look stunning too (except for that gold… brrrr), but I keep going back to the simple black and white.
Black and white are definite classics
love that you rate nail polish in Starbucks 😛
LOL thanks – I have a starbucks addiction so it makes perfect sense to me
I totally justify spending money the same way! Is it worth making my coffee at home pretty, or not? Lovely swatches!
That’s so great! thanks for commenting Stephanie 🙂
I had to get that blue – who could resist? I even ordered mine from the states so I could have it as soon as possible. I am trying to decide whether to go for Race Red… or the Coca Cola Red… I know they’re both different from each other but still, trying to justify having them both is difficult… what should I do?! I Have Red Lights Ahead Wear which is my only bright red (although this leans orange red).
Race red has more of an orange undertone and coca cola red is brighter. Totally diff 😉
