At long last, the moment we’ve all been waiting for (at least I have), a proper look at all 12 new spring/summer shades from the OPI Hawaii Collection. For those who enjoyed my sneak peak last week, (spoiler alert) get your wallets out because this collection is definitely a must!
Amongst the 12 bright and fresh new shades of the OPI Hawaii collection (available February 4th, 2015 in professional salons and beauty boutiques), there is something for everyone – nudes, creams, shimmers, glitter….drool…..pass me a pina colada!
Suzi Shops & Island Hops
This classic bubblegum pink is always a winner for me (who doesn’t like pink?). Unlike many pinks of similar hue that apply almost chalk like and are a real challenge to apply, I found the formula in Suzi Shops & Island Hops in OPI Hawaii a lot more forgiving than other pinks tend to be. As long as you don’t move the polish around too much, you can get perfect coverage in two coats.
Just Lanai-ing Around
This dark and creamy mauve is a beautiful cream that can certainly lend itself to spring/summer but I think can be a nice pick me-up in the fall/winter as well. A classic cream with two coats.
Hello Hawaii Ya?
More of a purple with grey undertones, a subtle color that also applies easily in two coats.
This Color’s Making Waves
This color is not as sparkly as The Sky’s the Limit from the OPI Mustang Collection. It’s more chrome-like and smoother. Again, careful with brushstrokes here or your manicure will look a little streaky. Two coats.
My Gecko Does Tricks
Wowza! Any green lovers out there? A similar brush stroke story, it doesn’t matter because when applied carefully this colour looks fabulous! Two coats.
Pineapples Have Peelings Too!
This one is an interesting one. I applied three coats in the swatches with top coat, but after I took the pictures and the polish dried even more it almost looked a little like textured polish. You can see slightly from the swatch stick pictures in this post.
Aloha from OPI
So gorgeous, I’m speechless with this coral winner. Love. Love. Love. 2 coats. Very similar to Nicole by OPI The Coral of the Story but not as bright.
Go with the Lava Flow
A shimmery golden red, this colour is perfect for nail art (floral, fire, zebra….ooh the possibilities). Shown here with 2 coats.
Lost My Bikini in Molokini
A stunning purple, similar but NOT THE SAME as Do You Have this Color in Stock-holm? from the Nordic collection. It doesn’t have as much indigo in it and is brighter in hue. Almost a one coater as well! Perfection.
Is Mai Tai Crooked?
Who else struggles with pastels? No worries, here, although I applied three coats, the self-leveling properties were great and I achieved full coverage. I love this pastel cream in the OPI Hawaii collection.
Do You Take Lei Away?
Who doesn’t love a creamy nude? I can never have too many. Two coats.
That’s Hula-rious!
Pastel mint has been THE SHADE these past few springs and I see no reason why we can’t stand out wearing this for another season. I just love this color. It also looks great matte (see HERE).
Interesting fact – beginning February 2015, 8 of the OPI Hawaii collection shades will be added to the OPI Color Palette by Clarke & Kensington paint in over 3,200 Ace Hardware store across the United States. Imagine painting your bedroom in your favourite OPI hue???? I would die! Which colours you ask? My two faves….That’s Hula-rious!, Aloha from OPI and the other gorgeous six – Do You Take Lei Away?, Is Mai Tai Crooked?, Suzi Shops & Island Hops, Just Lanai-ing Around, Hello Hawaii Ya?, and Lost My Bikini in Molokini. Visit Clark + Kensington for other OPI hues that you can get in a paint colour!
What’s the Verdict?
OPI Hawaii is honestly a gorgeous spring/summer collection. The pale creamy pastels combined with the vibrant blues and greens really do lift your spirits and brighten your days! It’s hard for me to pick my favourites as I feel I can convince myself that I need every single colour (I’m sure you’re doing that too), but I’ll try my best to narrow it down.
Will Definitely Spend My Starbucks Money On:
- That’s Hula-rious! (you knew that already)
- Aloha from OPI
- Lost My Bikini in Molokini
- Suzi Shops & Island Hops
- Is Mai Tai Crooked?
- Do You Take Lei Away?
- My Gecko Does Tricks
Might Miss One Starbucks This Week For:
- This Color’s Making Waves

OMG! I love new OPI collections
I want the purple Lost My Bikini, and the bright coral Aloha from OPI !
I know right? You definitely will love them and so not be disappointed.
As soon as I saw the first previews I knew I wanted all of them except for the yellow one… and that hasn’t changed although the yellow one doesn’t look too bad in your swatches 🙂
I know the yellow one hasn’t been getting great feedback, though I did wear it as a whole mani one day and it grew on me!
This is an interesting collection. I would love to see comparison swatches with other similar OPI colors. I think a few might make it into my stash:
Just Lanai-ing Around
Hello Hawaii Ya?
Aloha from OPI
Go with the Lava Flow
Do You Take Lei Away?
I so love those ones as well….I really do love them all. I will definitely look to do some comparisons.
My absolute fave – ‘Hello Hawaii Ya?’ followed by ‘This Color’s Making Waves!’ ( the Brit in me bristles at the lack of a ‘u’… lol!) whereas down at the bottom of the proverbial pile sits ‘Aloha From OPI’ (discounting ‘Pineapples Have Peelings Too’ as just too weird… ) Of course, all this tells me is that we defo should play swapsies with our collections! Great swatching babes, I’d be interested to see ‘That’s Hula-rious’ and ‘Gargantuan Green Grape’ side by side though…? Trish x
Great choices Trish and I so hear you about the whole “U” in colour being canadian and all 🙂 I definitely will look to make a comparison of that’s hula-rious and gargantuan green grape – great idea!
