The buzz is strong for the OPI Hawaii Collection among beauty lovers worldwide(you can see the full review and swatches HERE). The fresh and tropical colours have hit the “must-have” beauty list for many. Although the majority of the collection is to die for (there does seem to be some skeptism over the yellow glitter polish “Pineapples Have Peelings Too” , the question remains….do you have to buy all the shades if you have something similar in your collection already?

I’ve had many requests to do a swatch comparison of OPI Hawaii, so in this post I’m comparing two of my favourite hues from the collection – “That’s Hula-arious” and “Aloha from OPI”, to other nail polishes in my own collection. I hope it helps! If there are other comparisons you want to see with any of the other colours from OPI Hawaii, please let me know in the comments section at the end of the post.

OPI Hawaii: That’s Hula-arious Swatch Comparison

The forumla is creamier and takes only 2 coats for full opacity compared to the lighter formula of Gargantuan Green Grape, where I feel 3 coats are necessary for full coverage. OPI That’s Hula-arious is every so slightly lighter.

OPI Hawaii: Aloha from OPI

OPI Aloha from OPI is so close to OPI Cajun Shrimp, OPI Red Lights Ahead Where? and essie clambake that if you have one of these, you probably don’t “need” the other. Lining the bottles up side by side, they are practically identical.

The Verdict

Swatch sticks always look slightly different then the nail polish when it’s actually on your nails, but for comparison sake, they are great to see any differences. So do you really need my two most coveted colours from the OPI Hawaii Collection? Well perhaps “really need” might not be the case, but no will will judge you if you “really want”.

Until next time,

Thanks for the comparison(s) babe, at my request – ok, maybe other people requested it too, but then I wouldn’t feel quite so special! Anyways :-D… hmm, Hula does seem to be a little more apple-y and Summer to Grape’s mint-y Spring? Hey, all this colour description isn’t as easy as people think, y’know! I don’t know whether to be happy or sad they’re not dupes – happy cos that means I have to buy it, sad cos… that means I have to buy it! As for the Aloha comparisons? I admit to giving up on all these coral/orange shades, as they seem turn my pale-and-interesting complexion into dull-and-washed-out… I’d loved to be proved wrong, but I’ve already got several rather expensive redundant purchases in my stash (if any Brits have an excess of darks and purples, I’m your swapsie woman, lol!) But thanks anyway – I would have wasted (if nail polish can ever be described as such) so much money on colours I’d only ever seen in bottles, if it wasn’t for you!
Oh and btw, saw this collection for sale for the first time today, but I’m *trying* to be strong and wait for the prices to drop a little… Trish x
