It was three summers ago when I escaped to my sister’s cottage, on a tiny lake in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do but suntan, read and relax – the perfect vacation. I had my summer reading list uploaded onto my Kindle, and I was looking forward to digging into it. The first book I chose to read was the infamous 50 Shades of Grey. People everywhere were talking about 50 Shades of Grey, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Long story short…on this tiny lake with very few people around the week I was on holiday, I soon found out that not only were BOTH my neighbours (on either side) also reading 50 Shades of Grey (they tell me with a slight embarrassed grin) but the night I met up with a number of neighbours for card playing and drinks, I soon realised that almost EVERYONE on the lake was also reading 50 Shades of Grey (and let me tell you, these people were from all walks of life)!
So – needless to say, whether it’s your cup of tea or not, the first book, and the second… and the third (yes there is a third) were huge hits globally (this book was translated into 50+ languages and has sold over 100 million copies!).
Here we are now, all anxiously awaiting the much anticipated movie: 50 Shades of Grey “The Movie”, coming out February 14th (how sweet), what better time for OPI to join the 50 Shades of Grey pandemonium and launch a six new limited-edition collection inspired by the movie itself?
The OPI 50 Shades of Grey Collection features six polishes, 5 with various shades and textures of grey and one red cream. All swatches are shown below with two coats and no topcoat.
Cement The Deal
The lightest of greys in the collection, Cement The Deal is gorgeous and understated. The perfect neutral for almost any occasion.
Embrace the Gray
A slightly darker shade of grey, Embrace the Gray is also a stunning neutral but is for someone who likes to wear darker shades. Perfect for the gloomy January and February months.
Dark Side of the Mood
The darkest of the three cream greys, Dark Side of the Mood (what a great name!) is sultry and daring. Pair this polish with a red lipstick and Anastasia Steele might have a run for her money!
Shine for Me
I’m not a huge glitter polish fan, but wow this stunning silver and blue sparkly affair has caught my attention!
My Silk Tie
The final of the ‘greys’ in the OPI 50 Shades of Grey collection, this grey is more of a sophisticated silver and it isn’t too ‘in your face’ like other more chrome silvers can be.
Another classic red, this collection couldn’t be without it.
This is definitely my favorite collection of the season so far. I’m a lover of creams and greys and I don’t think I can live without any of the OPI 50 Shades of Grey Collection, not to mention the names are so perfect!
I would love to hear what you think about the collection below.
