Today I wanted to play around with the concept of negative space nail art. Negative space nail art has been a trend for a little while but I’ve yet to try it so I have decided that today is the day.
The concept of negative space comes from the larger world of art where the composition of a piece of art is defined by its positive and negative space. Negative space is the space surrounding the image that helps form the overall composition.

When it comes to negative space nail art, essentially the term “negative space”, is just like that in the broader art world – the space on your nail surrounding the design, helping form the overall composition.
To create my negative space nail art, I decided to use my first polishes from Julep that I received just a few days ago. This would be the perfect opportunity to play with my new greens: Payton, Valerie and Courtney.
To create this look, I decided I wanted to try something different on every nail to see what I liked best. I started with a base coat and a very neutral Revlon color “Sheer Innocence” to give the nail a bit of shine. I then played with my greens on each finger. When I completed the design, I decided to add a few gold micro beads to pull together all five nails.
I hope you enjoyed this look.
Until next time!
