There’s nothing like opening a brand new eyeshadow palette that you’ve been coveting and finally decided to splurge on. After you’ve swatched all the colours (because we all have to see the true intensity, right?), what next? Well time to apply your makeup of course. While it’s fantastic to have new makeup goodies to try, they’re pretty useless if you don’t have the right tools to apply them.
Makeup brushes are essential tools for anyone who wears makeup. When it comes to brushes there are so many options. You can invest per brush and put together your own collection, or you can purchase a brush set. There are brushes with natural fibers or animal hair and others that are synthetic. So many options and many different price points. As with most things in life, the more you spend, usually, the better brush you’re going to get. Some cheap brushes are fine, but have you ever used a brush that leaves bristles on your face? No thanks!
When I’m looking for new brushes, I usually head to Sephora where they always seem to have expertly designed brushes and brush set options to give you the power to master your look effortlessly. Today I’m going to show you two brush sets that would be perfect for any beauty lover, and two professional brushes that I recently acquired.
This kit is perfect if you’re not quite sure what brush you need. The double-ended rose gold makeup brushes are beautifully encased in a cream pebbled clutch for on-the-go convenience. This set incluses 12 brushes in total: Buffing & Blush brush, Angled & Pointed Foundation, Airbrush & Perfecting Concearler, All-Over & Angled Eyeshadow, Angled Brow & Spoolie and Eyeliner & Smudge Brush.
To keep your brushes organized, the case has separate compartments with a cover you can flip overtop to avoid excess makeup ending up where you don’t want it.

Sephora Pro Makeup Brushes
This Stippling Brush is perfect for applying powder, liquid and cream foundation. Using a stippling brush ensures an even, streak-free application. Made of white, taklon bristles that are used to apply the product and black and black goat bristles that help blend – this is the perfect duo of natural and synthetic fibers. The sleek, wood handle is really nice to hold and fits comfortably in the hand.
All professional brushes come with this great reusable plastic cap that helps keep your brush clean and bristles together.
Cost: $43 CAD/$35 USD
The Pro Contour Brush is tapered, so ideal for highlight and contour. I use this brush daily and am so in love! Because the brush is tapered, it allows you to be precise by getting into smaller areas of the face. It is best used with powder highlighters or contours but it can also be used as a blending brush when softening with creams and liquids. This brush is also made with a blend of high-grade natural and synthetic fibers.
Cost: $43 CAD/$35 USD
