Does the sound of pampering yourself for just 10 minutes at the end of the day seem like an impossible task? I know what you mean, I always have the highest of intentions to give myself a little me-time at the end of each day and treat myself to a little beauty indulgence. Unfortunately this intention often doesn’t translate into practice. Well, today is the day to start putting ourselves first. If we don’t do it now, when will we do it? Are you with me? Taking 10 mins at the end of each day (or at least every other day) to give yourself a facial mask can’t be that difficult, can it? It isn’t.
For the last few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of testing out L’Oreal Paris Pure-Clay Masks designed to beautify the skin in just ten minutes. I’ve been spending 10 mins a day applying these masks (trying out a different one each day) and giving myself a little me time at the end of each day. News alert – setting aside 10 minutes a day is actually not that hard to do!
If you haven’t heard, clay is the next big thing in beauty. From mass market beauty brands to luxury cosmetics companies, everyone is claiming their place in the market with their own innovative clay beauty products – mainly facial masks. Why clay? Clay has purifying and antioxidant properties that penetrate deeper than the skin’s surface to clarify and brighten. Who doesn’t want some clay in their lives?
What’s in L’Oreal Paris Pure-Clay Masks?
All three masks are formulated with three complementary mineral clays and other ingredients sourced from regions around the world, including:
Kaolinite is a soft, mineral present in kaolin clay and ideal for masks due to its absorbent properties. It helps to rid the skin of built-up and unwanted impurities and removes excess shine without stripping away the skin’s natural oils.
Montmorillonite, a clay derived from igneous rocks of the smectite family, is known for its purifying and rebalancing properties. Creamy to the touch and swells up when in contact with water.
In addition to the three-mineral clays in the formula, each clay mask is enhanced with an ingredient selected for specific skin needs:
PURE-CLAY PURIFY & MATIFY MASK (green): Eucalyptus to absorb impurities, unclog pores and reduce excess shine.
PURE-CLAY EXFOLIATE & REFINE PORE MASK (Red): Red Algae to exfoliate dead skin cells, smooth imperfections and tighten pores.
PURE-CLAY DETOX & BRIGHTEN MASK (dark grey): Charcoal to reduce dull skin, increase luminosity and even out skin tone.
Some clay-masks tend to be thick and really difficult to apply, but all three of these masks have a creamy formula with a really fresh scent. You barely need much on your fingertips to cover your whole face as the formula spreads out really nicely. Wait ten minutes and then use some warm water to remove the mask.
Invest in a dark coloured washcloth to help the removal process of these masks (and any other dark clay masks) to avoid discolouration of your sink (and getting the stuff under your nails)! I find that the whole clean up and removal process is much more pleasurable when I use a dark washcloth!
Can you over-use these? While generally I would recommend only using a mask 1-2 times per week, I’ve been a little over obsessed with these masks and have been trying out a different one nightly. In fact, I’m on a week’s vacation right now and I can assure you, I packed these babies in my bag. No skin disasters yet!
Are you clay-mask obsessed? If you don’t want to drop the big bucks on luxury brand masks, L’Oreal Paris Pure-Clay Masks are a great alternative! Treat yourself!
