I’ve been so sad to say goodbye to summer (I know, I know, we still have 2 more weeks!). The one thing that gets me antsy for fall however are the gorgeous hues in fall makeup and nailpolish collections. I’m saying goodbye to my neons and opting for bolder, and dare I say, sparkly hues. Some of my favourite collections so far have been OPI Washington D.C. and essie Go Go Geisha but CND Culture Craft Collection also has a few faves. These collections have produced stunning cream polishes, but they are NOTHING in comparison to the gorgeous holos, glitter and flake nail polishes in KBShimmer Fall 2016.12 stunning nail polishes – these seriously impress!
My swatching process of the KBShimmer Fall 2016 collection was different from my usual routine. I usually have a studio setup in my house that has 2 daylight soft boxes and a white backdrop. I received these beautiful nail polishes from Harlow & Co the day before I was leaving for a week vacation at the cottage. After tearing open my package and gazing upon these 12 beauties, I knew I had to swatch them instantly.
So what does that mean? The swatches I share with you below are all taken outside in natural daylight (picture me in a bikini trying to get a tan while hunched over with my camera trying to get the perfect image). You can only image what my hubby was saying watching me hunched over on our vacation trying to get the perfect picture of my nails! As it turns out, swatching these babies in daylight was a HUGE success because its in direct sun that you really see the perfection of this collection.
KBShimmer Fall Swatches
Above: Sweet Devotion is a candy inspired white crelly. While I achieved coverage in 2 coats, I applied a third to make it extra creamy.Above: Orchidding Me? (in shade)Above: Orchidding Me? (in direct sun)Above: Orchidding Me? is probably my fave in the collection. A stunning intense holographic purple nail polish that covers perfectly in 2 coats.Above: Poppy Kisses (in shade)Above: Poppy Kisses (in direct sun)
This is a bright burnt orange linear holographic polish that truly sparkles in the sun. It also covers perfectly in 2 coats.
Above: Little Boy Hue is a perfect cream baby blue. Its funny – I’ve seen other swatches of this hue and they look much lighter than my swatch – but this photo is true to hue. On my skin tone, the blue is the perfect intensity.
Above: Turning Point is a really interesting peachy glitter nail polish that is part of the KBShimmer Mega Flame Line. It has seriously intense glitter paired with a soft rosy hue. This covers fully in 3 coats, but looks great with 2 coats as well if you want a less opaque look.
Above: Oh My Ganache is another fave of mine. Inspired by the rich chocolate ganache in our favourite cakes (stop drooling) – this chocolate holo won’t make you feel guilty if you choose to indulge! Covers in 2 coats.
Above: Flake Me Home is minty flakey perfection in a polish. I actually don’t own anything like this in my vast collection. I’m so madly in love with this polish, I can only image what it would be like in gold! Covers in 2 coats.
Above: Fright This Way is a halloween inspired nail polish with a deep black base and a scattering of holo dust and loads of purple glitter. At certain angles this polish looks plain black, but when the light catches the glitter, the purple pops! I applied 3 coats for total opacity.
Above: Tiers of Joy is a glitter crelly inspired by wedding cake! Love it!!! This stunning cream makes you want to lick your fingertips – literally. Covers in 3 coats for the perfect creamy finish.Above: Sage It Ain’t So is a minty green crelly with lavender, copper and silver glitter. This covers perfectly in two coats.
The 12 nail polishes in KBShimmer Fall 2016 seriously wowed me. They’re such a nice break from the typical creams I tend to go for and I’m looking forward to mixing and matching.
You can purchase these polishes from Harlow & Co, the best re-seller of indie nail polishes. The best part? They ship internationally!
Until next time,
