Who loved the golden globes last night? To be honest I thought they were a little boring, BUT I was tuned in for red carpet opening hour to check out all the dresses.  There were definitely some dresses that stood and a number that inspired me to design some Golden Globe nail art (yes I sat in front of the tv with my sketch book)…so stay tuned for some posts throughout the week.

I think the dress that stood out to me the most was Amy Adams’ red and burgundy Valentino-designed sophisticated yet revealing halter dress with a plunging neckline. I think this dress stood out the most for me, perhaps because I just saw American Hustle on friday night and thought Amy’s wardrobe and make-up for that film were absolutely incredible (I mean not many of us can wear such Jennifer Lopez-esque low cut dresses but Amy pulled it off in about 10 different outfits in American Hustle). It could also be that my two favourite polish colors this season are Essie “Shearling Darling” (a deep burgundy) and Essie A-List (a poppy red) and I am just loving the red and maroon combo this season. Either way, Amy Adams stood out to me so the first nail art design I created was based on Amy Adams’ Valentino Golden Globes 2014 dress.

To complete this look I used Essie Mademoiselle, A-List and Shearling Darling.

Essie Maidemoiselle, A-List, Shearling Darling

I first painted my nails with Mademoiselle, then I used Shearling Darling to create the V of the low cut neckline of Amy’s dress (did this freehand with the nail polish brush directly because I didn’t want the lines to be too straight as I think it looks more natural). I then painted the tip of the nail white as a base for the red A-List so the red would pop (just like on Amy’s dress).

I hope you like this look.
