The online world has become a world of its own over the last twenty years. At first it provided the medium for online messaging services (ICQ anyone?) and information lookup, then came facebook, social media, and online accounting and before we knew it many of us were looking for our life partners on line!
Although many still might turn their nose up at the thought of on-line dating (get a life people…), meeting people online is part of our every day life. Over the last year as I embarked on my social media journey with Nail That Accent, I’ve met some incredible people that I would give anything to actually meet in real life.
Meeting people that share your passion, support your hobbies and even become close friends is rare and I’m so lucky to say that in the past year, many of these special people have entered my life through Nail That Accent.
A few months ago, a small group of newly found friends from various countries started talking about one of the iconic colors from China Glaze that came out last summer as part of their neon collection – Flip Flop Fantasy (a SERIOUS neon orange/pink). Some of the girls were complaining that China Glaze actually changed the formula and the new color was much more peachy than the previous colour. One of the girls was so upset she didn’t own the original version, she was asking anyone to sell it to her. What would she do to get this coveted Flip Flop Fantasy?
One of the other members of our little social media friendship group had a brilliant idea. She owned the original formula and decided it would be a great idea to send the polish to one member of our group to do a manicure with the polish, and then send it onto the next girl. The last lucky lady who wanted the polish to begin with, would get to keep it. How fun is that? Would this have happened 20 years ago?
Here are the stops that Flip Flop Fantasy have made/are making. You can click the stop to see the manicure that my lovely friends did already (I will update the links once Flip Flop Fantasy finishes it’s final stop).
This last weekend I received the sacred China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy from my new found friend (who actually also lives in Toronto coincidentally) and today I created my manicure.
I have to say, as beautiful and perfect as this neon is – man is it difficult to photograph. At first I took the pic in direct sunlight and this is what happened…
So here is a tip for those who have difficulty taking photos of their neons – underexpose your picture and voila! The camera is now exposed for the polish and not fighting to expose between the polish and my fingers causing confusion for the camera.
I created this manicure using a striping brush, some white polish and some nail art studs.
My midi rings are from Fancy Me Candy.
So now it’s time to bid farewell to this gorgeous polish. I’ll wrap it all up and place it safely in the mail for a journey to Denmark. Say good bye Flip Flop Fantasy to your North American tour, you’re onto Europe now.
Hold on, before I send you off, I’m going to take you for a run in my matching sneakers!
Until next time,
