Today I’ve been playing with fire and this is the result…OUCH!
OK so obviously I didn’t REALLY light my nails on fire, but since today’s prompt for the OMD3 Nail Art Challenge is: FLAMES, I created some FIRE NAILS.
For my fire nails I used two different techniques. For the ring and baby fingers, I sponged various red, orange and yellow polishes on a dry white base. Once dry, I then applied flame nail decals from SNAIL VINYLS and applied a black polish over the decals. Again, once this was dry (important as it will smudge otherwise), I applied a matte top coat.
For the burnt newspaper nails, I filmed a quick tutorial below.
I started with a dry white base, then applied a newspaper nail decal (you can use real newspaper too – see tutorial HERE). I then used a sponge with black and brown polish to create the burnt locations. Finally I used acetone to clean up and to create the holes in the middle of the burnt spots. I finished the look with a matte top coat (this time it doesn’t need to be dry as the smudging effect makes it look more realistic).
I really love how my fire nails turned out. I think they would be fun Halloween Nails.
Until next time,
