People often ask where I get my inspiration for my nail art. Honestly, inspiration comes from everywhere around me from a graphic design on a label to a bedding print. One of my favortie places to look for inspiration is FASHION. Designer collections on the runway are promoted a year in advance at fashion shows globally, so if you’re into fashion trends and styles then it’s a great way to make sure you’re up-to-date.
Today I collaborated with one of the most influential nail art bloggers around: The Nailasaurus to show you how easily fashion can be used to inspire nail art.
We both chose one designer outfit each (me: Alberta Feretti, The Nailasaurus: Nonoo from the Pre Spring Summer 2015 designer collections). Then we both designed two manicures based on each design.
Today you’ll see how two nail artists interpreted the same designer outfit in two different ways (check out how we both interpreted The Nailasaurus’ fashion pick HERE).
Nail That Accent’s Interpretation
- essie: under where? (lilac base)
- essie: blanc (pinky)
- OPI: I’m feeling sashy & vant to bite my neck? (belt)
- acrylic paint: floral design painted with a thin nailart brush
- HK Girl Topcoat
I first polished my pinky and thumb in essie blanc, and then I polished my ring and middle finger with essie under where? I then polished a neutral color for my index, essie sand tropez and free handed a half moon with essie under where? Then I used acrylic paint to freehand the floral design, and finished with outlining the floral design in black acrylic paint. Finally I painted the belt on my ring finger using OPI I’m feeling sashy and vant to bite my neck? with a nailart brush. I topped the whole design off with Glisten & Glow HK Girl.
The Nailasaurus’ Interpretation
- Barry M: Prickly Pear (Purple Base Colour)
- Barry M: Coconut (White Base Colour)
For the details…
- Sally Hansen: Mojito
- NYC: Lavender Blossom
- NYC: Lexington Yellow
- Sally Hansen: Carnivale
- NYC: Wild With Passion
- Sweet Color White Liner
- Sweet Color Black Liner
Nailasaurus started with a base of Barry M Coconut on her middle finger, with Prickly Pear on the others. For the detail on her middle finger, she used NYC Wild With Passion, Sally Hansen Mojito and NYC Lavender Blossom with a dotting tool to match the shoes. The rest of the detail is freehanded with a thin nail art brush using Sally Hansen Mojito, NYC Lavender Blossom, NYC Lexington Yellow, Sweet Color White Liner and Sally Hansen Carnivale. For the outlining, she used Sweet Color Black Liner and it’s all topped off with a coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl.
