Winter nail polish collections have traditionally included dark burgundies, reds and crimsons, but, over the last few years, essie has shown that winter doesn’t need to be about deep, bold colours. Winter can mean warm and toasty shades like those in the essie matte cashmere collection or last year’s winter 2014 collection. This year, essie has kept with recent tradition and launched six beautiful winter colours for their essie Winter 2015 Collection, that make us want to jump into a cream cashmere sweater, grab big cup of coffee and settle down with a good book.
Perhaps it’s Rebecca Minkoff’s, Global Colour Designer, effect on the brand, but whatever it is, I love what essie is doing right now! As Rebecca herself says:
The frozen beauty of Winter is absolute magic. The six new shades I’ve dreamed up for this collection are perfect for me-time or ski-time – or maybe just the right time to snuggle up by a roaring fire with the object of your affection.
essie Winter 2015 includes six new shades:
haute tub: Turn up the fashion heat and take the plunge in indulgent jet black with amethyst fire.
apres-chic: Sport this iconic platinum and go from ski bunny to Winter wonderland queen.
virgin snow: Pure. Untouched. Pristine. This icy frozen lavender is just waiting to be discovered.
peak show: enjoy the view from the top. In this scenic powder pink, it’s the place to be – in all it’s pretty glory.
altitude attitude: Rise to the occasion in elevated sublime scarlet and scale the heights of fashion without batting a lash.
shall we chalet? Well darling, since you ask…why not? It would be impossible to resist this seductive ruby.
Haute Tub
I was expecting more purple from this polish, as you can see the bottle has a lot of amethyst colouring in it, but after applying two coats, it’s more of a jet black with a small amount of purple shimmer.
Apres-Chic
There’s nothing like a nice new silver polish. A silver polish is great on its own, or a must-have for nail art. This hue is more tin-foil-esque than essie no place like chrome, and very similar to OPI My Signature is ‘DC’ from the coca cola collection.
Virgin Snow
Who doesn’t love a creamy light lavendar polish? I could wear this all winter long. Full opacity is reached with 2 coats.
Peak Show
Such a pretty pale pink, peak show is worth the effort to get a smooth finish. Like most light pinks, it is rather difficult to apply, so take your time and layer 3 thin coats.
Altitude Attitude
A classic bright red is a trademark for essie, and this one is probably a close runner up to my favourite essie red – “A” List.
Shall We Chalet?
A beautiful cool dark red that is definitely a stainer so be careful in your application.
As with most essie nail polish collections, essie winter 2015 speaks to me with all the soft tones and beautiful cream polishes. Which nail polish catches your eye?
