Today I’m thrilled to bring you essie’s spring 2014 collection.
“This year essie is all about colour, colour, colour” as I heard Katie Green, Director of Communications for essie Canada, reveal at the bloggers event I attended a month ago during Toronto Fashion Week. The essie spring collection speaks to exactly that – COLOR! With six stunning cream shades to choose from, fit for every occasion, the essie spring collection meets any fashionista’s nail polish desires.
The essie spring collection consists of six shades:
fashion playground: Fun and games just met its match. This plucky pistachio green with subtle shimmer flirts with forever and plays for keeps.
PROS: More mint then pistachio but still a gorgeous green. Full coverage with 2 coats
CONS: the shimmer is just as essie states “subtle” – very hard to catch in the photograph
hide and go chic: I see you! Covetable azure blue is every elusive but impossible to miss
PROS: stunning blue for the season that goes with just about anything. Full coverage in 2 coats. Formula is to die for!
CONS: nothing – this is the one for me!
truth or flare: Sexy. Fun. Totally glamourous. Vintage blue denim fits perfectly, honestly these jeans always make you look fab.
PROS: another perfect shade of blue, that is so shiny without even a topcoat. The creamy formula applies like a dream and gives full coverage in two coats.
CONS: Nothing – Add this to your list right now!
spin the bottle: Close you eyes. When you give this flirty, semi-sheer nude a while, be prepared to pucker up.
PROS: I always love a fantastic nude, or neutral shade and this hits the spot. Also applies perfectly in two coats.
CONS: With essie’s Resort Collection having just put out another neutral in “cocktails & coconuts” and my favourite essie must have “sand tropez”, I don’t see the need for yet another nude in the line. I will be swatching these together soon so we can see the difference between them.
romper room: make way for the new kid on the block. This pretty pale tea rose pink knows how to work the room: stylishly.
PROS: you can never go wrong with tea rose pink.
CONS: as with most soft pinks, they are trickly to apply and usually get full coverage with 3 thin and even coats. I will say that the formula is self-levelling, so you can get a nice full coverage if you apply somewhat evenly.
style hunter: Bright. Hot. Laser-focused. This pure crimson is a chic-seeing missile that always gets exactly what it’s looking for.
PROS: HOT. HOT. HOT. Do I need to say more? Applies like all essie’s red. Perfect in two coats.
CONS: do we really need another red essie? “A” list looks quite similar I think. I’ll do some comparisons soon.
The Verdict?

I’m Not Giving Up My Starbucks For:
- Spin the Bottle (only because I have very similar essie shades)

The two blues have my interest. But right now, my wallet is beyond hurting! There have been too many gorgeous polish collections this year! LOL
I know what you mean Lara!
Please do the comparisons as mentioned. How does romper compares to fiji? : )
Sure thing – I will do!
Truth or flare is my fave!
