The essie spring 2015 collection was released last month, and I’m a little late to get these swatches up but better late then never! With six new creme shades, 2 nudes and 4 colourful hues, these polishes are perfect for the spring season with something for everyone.
All swatches below are shown with two coats and no topcoat.
Above: (Picked Perfect) While essie calls this hue an “antique almond peony”, it really is exactly that. A perfect nude, almond cream. Very similar in colour to essie cashmere all eyes on nude and a little darker than essie cocos and coconuts, picked perfect stands on its own.
Above: (Garden Variety) A beautiful ocean blue with turquoise undertones, this cream is truly perfection. I love the creaminess and opacity of this polish.
Above: (Flowerista) is a stunning pink/purple that looks fantastic on the nails, but would also look great on the toes.
Above: (Blossom Dandy) I had my eyes on this minty aqua cream hue as soon as I saw the press release for the essie spring 2015 collection, but I feared it would be a dupe of essie mint candy apple. It is VERY CLOSE, but not an exact dupe. Blossom dandy is a little brighter with more of a green undertone compared to mint candy apple which has more of a blue undertone. Do you need both? Not really but if you know you love mint candy apple, you will love this colour as well. Probably the most challenging to apply out of the six polishes in the essie spring 2015 collection, you have to ensure you don’t move the polish around too much on your first or second coat. If you push too hard on the brush when applying, you will get more of a patchy look.
Above: (Petal Pushers) A dark blue/grey that is darker than essie cocktail bling and a perfect formula. This polish can actually reach full opacity in one coat as well! It’s hard to find polishes that do that. If you have Embrace the Gray from OPI 50 shades of grey collection, this is almost an exact dupe though Petal Pushers has a little more blue in the formula.
Above: (Perennial Chic) Very, very close to essie spin the bottle, this beautiful peachy nude looks gorgeous on the nails for a natural look.
So what’s the Verdict?
essie continues to produce incredible polishes with perfect formulas that require little to no effort when applying. While the colours in essie spring 2015 are not necessarily ground breaking, they are consistent in superb quality and sophistication. You won’t be disappointed with any of these hues.
Check out this cute mani that was done for me backstage at Toronto Fashion Week a few weeks ago using colours from the essie spring 2015 collection. essie even had a manicam to showcase our nails! The temporary tattoos on my fingers are from Tattify. Isn’t it cute?
Until next time,
