Now I know that I told you neutral was the new red the other day, especially when we’re talking about nails…BUT I also told you that neon would be a big part of this summer (as it has been for the last few seasons). Bring back the 80s with anything neon and you’re still on trend this summer.
The Coachella music festival in the California desert might be over, but that doesn’t mean our nails can’t be Coachella-ready at any point this summer. The 6 new hues in the essie neon 2015 collection are both eye-catching and street style ready, inspired by the the festival itself.
The essie neon 2015 collection, isn’t ‘fluorescent’ but it is bright and it’s definitely a collection to check out.
(above) Vibrant Vibes – Probably the most neon/fluorescent in the essie neon collection, Vibrant Vibes is a gorgeous bright green and covers in just two coats. It looks this vibrant without the need for a white base. Perfection right?
(above) Make Some Noise – A gorgeous electric blue that is probably one of my faves in the collection. White t-shirt and blue jeans and this polish on your nails? I mean….HELLO!
(above) All Access Pass – This is an interesting one. At first glance it looks very similar to essie suite retreat that was launched a few months ago for the essie resort collection, but after playing with it, it goes on much differently. Like other neon polishes, this one goes on a little streaky and dries to a matte finish, but then as it dries, the streaks disappear. This polish definitely needs to be worn with a topcoat, otherwise it will look dull and flat like many neon polishes that aren’t worn with a top coat. The finish is more jelly-like than cream. So don’t freak out when you’re applying the polish thinking ‘this isn’t bright?’ – just apply a top coat.
(above) Coacha’bella – What a fantastic name, and as above, must be worn with top coat for the color to pop. essie describes this shade as “a stunning it-girl molten magenta”.
(above) Melody Maker is a an intensely bright teal green that covers absolutely beautifully. Another favourite of mine from the essie neon collection, this colour is stellar!
(above) Groove is in the Heart looks like a light bubblegum pink in the bottle, but when you apply it in two coats, the brightness and intensity pop. It’s just gorgeous. You can never have too many pinks in your collection, and Groove is in the Heart takes the brightness level up about five notches!
How does the essie neon collection look over white?
