Welcome to the awesome CraftyNail for another amazing review! Today she’s showing you the Color Club Modern Mosaic Collection.
I have a limited series collection from Color Club to show you. It’s called Modern Mosaic and it’s a microbatch so there aren’t too many swimming around. But I’ve heard that this summer 2014 collection can be found at Bed Bath & Beyond. Honestly, I rarely go there so I can’t confirm. But now that I know they sell nail polish I might have to make a trek! This Color Club Modern Mosaic collection is interesting because the matte glitters they use are supposed to be like tiny glass beads. Tres artistique! I’m not sure whether to call them glitter toppers or textured polishes. I tried them on their own and I didn’t like them that way since I couldn’t get good opacity. Since the formulas are thick but not very dense with glitter, I think they work best over another color, as a special topper. Since that’s how foresee myself wearing them, that’s how I swatched them for you. All swatches also have a topcoat since I’d prefer these shiny rather than bumpy. So let’s take a look!
First up is Pixi-Lated. This one has tiny white, pink and fuchsia micro glitters. Shown here is one coat of Pixi-Lated over white (OPI Alpine Snow). Somehow I ended up with one tiny green glitter on my ring finger. Do you see it? One greenie must’ve snuck into the bottle during manufacturing, and of course it landed on my nail in time for photos! lol
Next is Orange Crush which has a peachy appearance. It’s a nice blend of white, yellow, and light orange glitters. I wore it over an orange cream (Zoya Arizona).
Green Piece, with white and green glitters, is one of my faves of the bunch since it has an earthy feel. I tried it over a dark green and a light green and I liked both. Shown here is over dark green (Orly Lucky Duck).
Blue Beaded has white, baby blue and just a sprinkling of dark blue glitters. Here it’s shown over a light blue (Color Club Take Me To Your Chateau).
Love You To Pieces is a bit different because it has more of a variety of colors in it. This one is my favorite of the 6. At first glance it looks purple, but when you look closer you’ll see it has white, lilac, fuchsia and dark blue glitters. Shown over a lavender cream (SinfulColors Prime Purple).
Last up is the least colorful, Subway Station. This one has a cool urban look to it with white and grey glitters. I wore this over a nice creamy grey (Orly Faint of Heart).
Overall, this Color Club Modern Mosaic collection is very unique. You can read a bit more about this Color Club Collection here on their site: Limited Series Modern Mosaic
The formulas are a bit goopy and application is a little tricky, so don’t overwork the polish. I will only wear one coat of them to prevent the glitters from bunching up. Because of this I noticed that they were easier to remove than your average glitter or textured polish, so that’s a plus. I also like that this microbatch has a cool indie feel to it. And I can definitely see myself wearing these polishes on accent nails, or in skittle manis. In fact, after I was done swatching them I really wanted to try them in nail art! So here’s a cute zebra design using my favorite of the bunch- Love You To Pieces.
