For the last few months I’ve started to hear more and more about Bio Seaweed Gel, a Canadian company that offers both a 3-step Color Gel Polish (base, color and topcoat) as well as a UNITY All-In-One Color Gel Polish (no base, top or cleansers). I have been looking forward to trying out both systems to see if they really do offer what they claim to offer – especially the Unity All-In-One Color system (who doesn’t like to cut out time consuming steps?).

Although I change my nails almost daily, there are times when I need to work with gel polish (either for myself or with clients). Gel polish lasts longer, rarely chips and often gives a shine that regular polish just can’t achieve after a few days of wear.

The downside to gel polish is usually the removal process. Most gel removal requires a lot of buffing to the polish prior to soaking in acetone and then carefully scraping off the polish (please leave this process to the professionals as you don’t want to damage your nail plate by scraping too much). Gel is also wonderful for nailart, as the polish usually moves a little easier and if you make a mistake, you can just wipe it off and start again.

Today I have three Bio Seaweed Gel polishes to show you, 1 from the 3-step system and 2 from the Unity system.

3-Step Color Gel Polish: Marshmallow (04)

The color is so stunning. This is three thin coats over the “No Sanding Base Coat” and one coat of “Diamond Shine Topcoat”. The polish went on a little uneven and streaky but all of a sudden at three coats it was perfect! I fell in love with this mani and I didn’t want to take it off! It is the perfect soft pink.

Removal was so easy, I couldn’t believe it (I wished I had videotaped it). I buffed a tiny bit (you don’t have to but it’s my routine), soaked for 7 mins and the polish almost came off in one piece! Amazing color and gel polish.

Unity All-In-One: Cinnamon (175)

I applied three super thin coats to achieve this look and it’s completely opaque! I can’t believe you don’t need to apply a base or a topcoat to achieve this shine.bio seaweed gel, bio seaweed gel swatch, marshmallow, gel polish, pink nails, gel nails, cinnamon, sparkly gold, gold polish, gold nails, michael kors watch, tortoiseshell watch, michael kors tortoieshell, love rings, love midi rings

The sparkle in the gold is just gorgeous, I also didn’t want to take this off!bio seaweed gel, bio seaweed gel swatch, marshmallow, gel polish, pink nails, gel nails, cinnamon, sparkly gold, gold polish, gold nails, gold macro, bio seaweed macro

Removal was same as above, after soaking for 7 mins, the polish just slid right off with no residue. I even pushed it off with an orange wood stick!

Unity All-In-One: Sweet Peach (183)

Wowza! Blinding, I know. The name “sweet peach” and color on the bottle does not describe how absolutely vibrant this color is. It’s almost like a China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy. I applied three thin coats to this polish as well (no base or top coat as it’s another Unity polish).bio seaweed gel, bio seaweed gel swatch, sweet peach, gel polish, orange nails, gel nails, sweet peach, neon orange, neon polish, neon nails

Something about this vibrancy was screaming for black french tips so I used essie “licorice” to create a neon french manicure.bio seaweed gel, bio seaweed gel swatch, sweet peach, gel polish, orange nails, gel nails, sweet peach, neon orange, neon polish, neon nails, french manicure, black french tips, neon rings, mido rings, LV rings
How cute are these neon LOVE rings I purchased from Muizee and just loved how the looked with the polish. The best part about this LOVE ring fad? My initials are LV so I’m all over these rings 🙂bio seaweed gel, bio seaweed gel swatch, sweet peach, gel polish, orange nails, gel nails, sweet peach, neon orange, neon polish, neon nails, french manicure, black french tips, neon rings, mido rings, LV rings, muizee
Removal of this polish was easy as above, came off so quickly for gel I was really impressed. In terms of overall wear for these polishes – I had my nails perfect for 1 week with no chips and the same shine as day one. I had to remove it after 1 week, but I have no doubt the polish would have stayed on much longer.

The Verdict?

I’m so in love with these polishes, I can’t wait to try them with some nailart. Curing time under an LED lamp was only 30 secs (60 secs for a UV lamp). The top coat required a 60 sec curing time. When applied as thinly as possible, this polish looks fabulous and won’t lift or peel away. Removal was super easy for all three polishes.

I hope you enjoyed these looks!

Until next time,

omg, I love all those rings in the second photo! Like that baby pink also. I’ve never done gel nails – have too many regular polishes and like changing out my mani too often to justify it. (and all that buffing and soaking – Yikes!) But I can see where women who like to keep a mani for a week or so would like this style of polish.

Thank you for making a post about this. i have been seeing these for sale on destashes all over instagram. now at least i know what they do as i have never used a gel polish. I am guessing when you say “cure time” im also going to need a special curing machine? Sad, cause i was hoping i could just buy the polish and try gel for the first time :/

I’m so glad you like it. Now it says on the site that it cures in sunlight too but I haven’t tried it so I cannot vouch for it but you can purchase small led or uv lamps for a good price. Thanks for your comment

Hi thanks so much for posting this I been debating if I should purchase their product or not because I wasn’t sure of they really were as good as they claim to be. Thanks to you I’ve convinced they are! What lamp did you using for curing? Was it a LED or UV and the brand?

Hello, I’ve been using them for over 1 year now after discovering them at a hair, nail, skin care show! Simply amazing!!! They just have added a no wipe top coat that’s awesome!
