One of my favourite parts of attending Toronto Fashion Week (#TFW) is getting a sneak peak of not only the hair, makeup and of course fashion trends for the upcoming seasons – but also, to catch a glimpse of any new makeup launches that haven’t hit the streets.
Maybelline, essie and Redkin are the makeup, nail and hair brands that sponsor the event and because maybelline and essie are two of my favourite drug store brands, I’m in my element when I hang out back stage.
Talking to Grace Lee, Maybelline Canada’s lead makeup artist, she gave me a sneak peak right from her makeup station of 5 new Maybelline products that will hit stores July 2016 (keep your eye out a littler earlier for US launch dates).
Color Sensational Loaded Bold Lipsticks
16 new shades including a greige, black blue, white and merlot along with some other beauties – this is a truly fashion-forward collection. Why Grace loves these? “They always apply perfectly without getting chalky.”
Could you pull off Color Sensational Loaded Bold in Pitch Black? Above Grace creates this look for Mackage.
Master Strobing Stick
A beautiful shimmery pink, this product adds the perfect highlight or ‘strobe’ to any finished look.
Above, the strobing stick adds the perfect highlight on the model’s cheekbones for the Ellie Mai show (on the lips: Midnight Merlot, Loaded Bolds).
Maybelline Color Jolts
Probably Grace’s favourite of the new launches (though she’s not happy I’m forcing her to pick) – these color jolts have an intense pigment that is to die for. As these 7 shades are the only ones in all of Canada (pictured above) Graces is coveting them like a new pair of shoes and has barely used them in her looks.
Master Duo Contour Stick
Along with the strobing trends, contouring isn’t going anywhere, and this duo highlighter/contour shaded stick is an easy to use blendable tool for those that don’t want to invest in a complicated powder kit.
Grace also loves using this contour stick for eyeshadow as you can see above with the look she created for Mikhael Kale.
The Colossal Spider Lash Mascara
Grace did warn me that “this isn’t an everyday mascara”, but it gives a crazy amount of volume and helps achieve that on trend clumpy lash look (yes it’s a thing) without having to use tweezers.
What am I looking forward to the most this? I have to say, the Color Jolts are calling my name, as I’m not sure I can pull of a navy lipstick in the Loaded Bolds…
